The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center of Arts and Education has just added a culinary arts kitchen to its many offerings. Why is this especially significant to the Ocean Springs Art Association membership? Because we will be handing art in the kitchen.
A slew of OSAA members have been honored as the kitchen’s first exhibitors: Mae Dillon, Gerrol Benigno, Patt Odom, Norma Seward, Susie Ranager, Susan Shepherd, Jasmine Henson, Mark Daynes and Jean Sparkes. The artists’ works will be on display (and for sale) for two months. Their work collectively features pottery, sculpture, paintings, photography jewelry and textiles. Come to our next Art Association meeting for further details.
However, also note the kitchen’s culinary offerings— seventeen classes ranging from artisanal cheeses and wine pairings to WOK 101, there’s some-thing to appeal to anyone from the gastronomically challenged to the epicure-ously avante garde.
Open house was held on February 26th, and classes are now underway.
Classes include East Meets West, and various "Girls Night Out" classes featuring dishes from places such as Kowloon, Hong Kong and Paris (France, not "trout" or Texas).
There are also classes on essential food items such as Cake Decorating 101 and Sugar Sculpture. Who could do with-out those staple foods?
Although classes from March through April are already sold out, check the Mary C. website (www.themaryc.org)for May’s class schedule.
